Acclaimed musician Mitski has unveiled an extraordinary series of music and film double features, set to captivate audiences on September 7th. The event celebrates her upcoming album, "The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We," slated for release on September 15th via Dead Oceans.
In a unique and intimate experience, attendees in eight global cities, including Chicago, Dallas, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Nashville, Sydney, and New York, will converge in local movie theaters to immerse themselves in Mitski's new album ahead of its release. Following the early album listening, guests will indulge in specially curated films handpicked by Mitski herself. Notably, the events are not live performances, and Mitski will not be present.
Film selections include cinematic gems like "Days of Heaven" by Terrence Malick (1978), "Desert Hearts" by Donna Deitch (1986), "Drugstore Cowboy" by Gus Van Sant (1989), and Federico Fellini's masterpiece "La Strada" (1954).
A celestial addition to the series unfolds in Tokyo's Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya on September 14th, where attendees will revel in the night sky's imagery while absorbing the album's auditory journey.
