Musician and social activist La Doña has officially released her captivating new single, “Confesiones.” This track comes on the heels of her previous release, “Mejor Que Matarte,” and it serves as an exciting sneak peek into her eagerly anticipated debut album, Los Altos de la Soledad, which is set to debut on September 6th via Empire Records. “Confesiones” showcases bright and vibrant acoustic production that is beautifully paired with La Doña’s powerful and emotive vocals, drawing on her deep roots in regional Mexican corridos, all while featuring a full live banda that enhances the listening experience.

La Doña poignantly describes the single as a reflection of her deepest secrets and fears, as well as a profound expression of her identity as a Chicana woman who is deeply immersed in the rich traditions of banda music. She notes, “I spent the first 20 years of my life singing rancheras and corridos, so it feels empowering to be able to finally integrate that part of my life with my identity as La Doña.” Following the highly anticipated album's release, La Doña will embark on an exciting Fall North American tour, kicking off in Chicago on September 7th at the renowned Taste of Chicago Festival.

The tour will also include notable stops in Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Austin, and many more cities throughout the month of October. Los Altos De La Soledad explores La Doña’s intricate journey through powerful themes of love, migration, and political awakening. Supported by the California Arts Council’s Creative Corps Fellowship, the album weaves together compelling stories told through various genres, including corrido, bolero, son jarocho, cumbia, and reggaeton, all while honoring her rich upbringing in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District. The album features significant contributions from a diverse array of international artists and poets, such as Jeronimo Gonzales, Tongo Eisen-Martin, Qing Qi, and the Discos Resaca Collective. Recorded in both Oakland and Mexico City, and with the support of a full orchestra, Los Altos de la Soledad invites listeners to immerse themselves in a captivating landscape filled with infatuation, betrayal, heartbreak, resistance, and hope.
